October 6, 2017

Dear Parents,

It was wonderful to see so many wonderful Grandparents and guests here on Wednesday.  Our room had one of the highest percentages of attendees!  I know the kids were excited to have their special guests come to our room. Everyone enjoyed a delicious lunch and some time to play on the playground.

We have completed our Monarch hatching.  We released the last butterflies yesterday.  We had a total of 20 caterpillars go through the complete process of metamorphosis.  It was so exciting.

In math we are working on subtraction.  This is VERY difficult for some children. Please practice basic facts at home nightly. Children must know their addition and subtraction facts to 10 fluently in first grade.

Book orders for October were sent home last week.  Please place any orders online or send them to me by Friday, October 13th so that I may get them sent out.

We still have a lot of illnesses going around our classroom. Please remember that as per our policy found in the Parent/Student Handbook, children may not return to school until they are fever free (without the assistance of fever reducing medication) for 24 hours.  They also must be out of school for 24 hours from the last bout of diarrhea or vomiting.  I’m sure you understand that this is to prevent the spread of illness to others.

  • No school Monday, October 9th  for Columbus Day
  • We have a short trip to the Firehouse in Jefferson 10/13.
  • Send sweatshirts for recess…it’s getting chillier out

Have a great, long weekend,

Andi Cammer
