Alexis Ploutz, daughter of Rebecca Empie of Jefferson, is the Class of 2023 salutatorian. She has participated in a variety of activities while earning a Regents diploma. Some of these activities include, National Junior Honor Society, National Honor Society, Art Club, FCCLA, Student Senate, and Yearbook.
Ms. Ploutz can occasionally be found in her library office studying as she awaits the start of her distance learning college course. Alexis has juggled a very full schedule each year at JCS, including enrolling in multiple college courses over the summer in preparation for next year. While maintaining this workload, she has also earned accolades like, the Saint Michael’s College Book Award, Clarkson University Achievement Award, Saint Lawrence University Book Award, and Wells College 21st Century Leadership Award.
In addition, Alexis has been a very important part of the team building our school yearbook this year. Her hard work and dedication has not gone unnoticed. She has also been a role model in the community being part of such events as the bake sale for charity and the Back to School Drive along with volunteering at our annual Community Service Day.
Alexis has been accepted to SUNY Canton, majoring in Funeral Services Administration.
